Course description

If you want to learn how to freely drift away from sticking to reference and write your own story in watercolor, then this course is for you. This plot of foggy Prague with a red tram, like no other, is suitable for this purpose. Here you can learn how to pay attention to color and composition, as well as not to overload the picture with details and at the same time not to be afraid of saturated colors. You also will learn various techniques that will help to achieve interesting effects, as well as get control over the blurred edges of such naughty medium as watercolor.

Requirements

The course does not require any prior knowledge.

Materials 

Paper. 
Watercolor paper preferably 100% cotton, density not less than 300 g/m2. For example, the following manufacturers: Arches, W&N, Canson Watercolor. You can buy the paper both in blocks and as separate sheets. 

Paints: 
Professional watercolour set from, White Nights, Schmincke, W&N and other professional series.
In cuvettes or tubes - it does not matter. 

Colors that are used in the course: 

  • Burnt Sienna
  • Ultramarine
  • Alizarin (cold red)
  • Turkis (amazonit) 
  • Grey Payne
  • Transparent Orange
  • White gouache

Brushes. 
If you already have brushes, take your usual set. 
The course uses:

  • the middle round french brush Da Vinci mix-b 3 
  • thin brush with a pointed tip for details
  • soft flat brush for wetting paper
  • synthetic flat brush

Other necessary materials: 

  • plastic palette
  • pencil
  • eraser
  • plane table
  • water tank
  • paint tape
  • paper towels
  • spray
