Course description

This is a comprehensive and structured watercolor course on forest and trees. We will go from very simple exercise to complex plots.

The course consists of 4 parts:
The first part of the course is devoted to theory, where you will learn some physics of nature and analyze how different types of trees are arranged and also learn how to draw in detail a few basic tree types.

After that you will paint 3 wonderful plots with step-by-step instruction.
In each work, you will consolidate knowledge from the previous lesson, as well as focus on the analysis of a particular topic.

Requirements

This course is suitable for both beginners and advanced painters and does not require any prior knowledge.

Materials

Paper: 
Watercolor paper preferably 100% cotton cold-pressed, density not less than 300 g/m2. For example, the following manufacturers: Arches, W&N, Canson Watercolor. You can buy the paper both in blocks and as separate sheets.

Paints: 
Professional watercolour set from, White Nights, Schmincke, W&N and other professional series.
In cuvettes or tubes - it does not matter.

Colors that are used in the course:

  • Burnt Sienna
  • Ultramarine
  • Alizarin (cold red)
  • Aureolin
  • Grey Payne
  • Cobalt Blue
  • Transparent Orange
  • Transparent Yellow
  • Raw Sienna
  • Cerulean
  • Violet
  • Black Luna (granulated color)
  • White gouache

Brushes:
If you already have brushes, take your usual set. If you buy, here are some recommendations: 

  • a middle-size round french brush out of natural hair (Da Vinci mix-b 3)
  • a fine synthetic brush for details
  • a synthetic flat brush
  • a soft flat brush to wet the sheet
  • calligraphic brush

Other necessary materials:

  • a plastic palette
  • a water tank
  • a paint tape
  • a paper towels
  • a spray
  • masking liquid
